Festival Miami’s Nuevo Tango in Miami, Part 2 continues its tribute to the musical genius of the late Ástor Piazzolla with exciting jazz band arrangements in nuevo tango (“new tango”) style by Fred Sturm, Stephen Guerra and Jeremy Fox. Showcasing the Frost Studio Jazz Band (DownBeat magazine’s 2011 Large Ensemble College Winner), this concert combines the passion and drama of Argentinian tango with the exotic timbres and improvisation of jazz.

Festival Miami, the annual music festival that opens the South Florida arts season, provides superior and diverse musical programming each year, while expanding academic opportunities and cultural enrichment to all of South Florida and its visitors. It’s a musical experience no one should miss.
Festival Miami presents between 25 to 30 concerts, master classes, and lectures over a five-week period. Most concerts are during the month of October Each event falls under one of the four unique themes, which include: “Great Performances,” “Jazz and Beyond,” “Creative American Music,” and “Music of the Americas.”
The goal of Festival Miami is to uphold and enhance the Mission Statement of the Frost School of Music by offering opportunities for music enjoyment and personal enrichment to as many residents and visitors of South Florida as possible. As such, Festival Miami strives to provide innovative programming that reaches across the cultural boundaries of the South Florida community.
