Santiago Rodriguez, piano
Pianist extraordinaire and Frost faculty artist Santiago Rodriguez (silver medal winner, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, 1981), presents a solo piano recital featuring enduring favorites by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Soler, Albeniz, Touzet and Lecuona. Rodriguez begins with Chopin’s exquisite Prelude in D?flat major, Op. 28, No. 15 “Raindrop” and Sonata No. 2 in B?flat minor, Op. 35, followed by Rachmaninoff’s famous Prelude in C?sharp minor, Op. 3, No. 2 “Bells of Moscow” and Sonata No. 2 in B?flat minor, Op. 36 (version 1931), which were directly inspired by Chopin’s brilliance. The recital ends with five selections including “Malaguena” from Lecuona’s beloved Andalucia Suite.
