Celebrated singer-songwriter and funk-blues artist Dr. John is a six-time Grammy Award winner and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee. His recent Grammy winning projects include Locked Down, Tribal, and City that Care Forgot. Among his iconic hits are “Right Place Wrong Time,” “Down in New Orleans,” “Blues in the Night,” and “That Old Black Magic.” A pianist and guitarist, his music combines blues, pop, jazz as well as zydeco, boogie-woogie and rock. His theatrical stage persona is legendary, inspired by medicine shows, Mardi Gras and voodoo ceremonies.  Join us for some foot-stomping, hand-clapping, feel-good fun!

Festival Miami, the annual music festival that opens the South Florida arts season, provides superior and diverse musical programming each year, while expanding academic opportunities and cultural enrichment to all of South Florida and its visitors. It’s a musical experience no one should miss.

Festival Miami presents between 25 to 30 concerts, master classes, and lectures over a five-week period. Most concerts are during the month of October Each event falls under one of the four unique themes, which include: “Great Performances,” “Jazz and Beyond,” “Creative American Music,” and “Music of the Americas.”

The goal of Festival Miami is to uphold and enhance the Mission Statement of the Frost School of Music by offering opportunities for music enjoyment and personal enrichment to as many residents and visitors of South Florida as possible. As such, Festival Miami strives to provide innovative programming that reaches across the cultural boundaries of the South Florida community.

The community is invited to partake in all that Festival Miami has to offer - from world premieres and symphonic concerts, to chamber music presentations and jazz performances, and much more!
