Bassist extraordinaire Christian McBride has been one of the most important and omnipresent figures in the jazz world for 20 years…and he isn’t even 40 yet! His audience-friendly jazz trio is described as “one of the most intoxicating, least predictable bands on the scene today.” McBride is a three-time Grammy Award winner and co-director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. An in-demand performer, arranger, composer, and educator, he has worked with the best of the very best in jazz, R&B, and pop including Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Isaac Hayes, Natalie Cole, James Brown, Sting, Don Henley, Bruce Hornsby and Queen Latifah, to name a few.

Festival Miami, the annual music festival that opens the South Florida arts season, provides superior and diverse musical programming each year, while expanding academic opportunities and cultural enrichment to all of South Florida and its visitors. It’s a musical experience no one should miss.
Festival Miami presents between 25 to 30 concerts, master classes, and lectures over a five-week period. Most concerts are during the month of October Each event falls under one of the four unique themes, which include: “Great Performances,” “Jazz and Beyond,” “Creative American Music,” and “Music of the Americas.”
The goal of Festival Miami is to uphold and enhance the Mission Statement of the Frost School of Music by offering opportunities for music enjoyment and personal enrichment to as many residents and visitors of South Florida as possible. As such, Festival Miami strives to provide innovative programming that reaches across the cultural boundaries of the South Florida community.
