Pilobolus Dance Theatre

Performing at Arsht Center Knight Concert Hall (Oct 25 - Oct 26)

“Pilobolus is a mind-blowing troupe of wildly creative and physically daring dancers who leap, fly, intertwine and break all the rules…Audiences should expect the unexpected with Pilobolus!” - NYC Newsday

World-renowned for their innovative mix of human imagination and corporeal dexterity and memorable performances on widely televised programs such as the Academy Awards, “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, PILOBOLUS has quickly become a Miami favorite and is set to open the Center’s 2013-2014 dance season. PILOBOLUS - named after a barnyard fungus that propels its spores with extraordinary speed, accuracy and strength - is a dance company founded by a group of Dartmouth College students in 1971. The company has built its fervent and expanding international following by showing the human body to be the most expressive, universal, and magical of media.

PILOBOLUS maintains its own singular style, evolving interplay with shapeshifting, shadowplay and other explorations, while actively collaborating with the best and brightest minds from all conceivable professions the world over. To date, PILOBOLUS has collaborated with Penn & Teller, the MIT Distributed Robotics Laboratory, Art Spiegelmen, Maurice Sendak, OK Go, Radiolab, and many others. The results of these collaborations have proven that amazing feats can be achieved, and PILOBOLUS has been recognized for its development of dance and multimedia art (including a 2012 Grammy Award nomination for OK Go’s “All Is Not Lost.”)

This performance is part of the 2013-2014 Knight Masterworks Season – Signature Dance Series.
