201 SW 5th Ave
Ft Lauderdale, Fl 33312
Performing at Broward Center for the Performing Arts / Au-Rene Theater (Oct 11 - Oct 11)
Internationally renown concert pianist, Gwendolyn Mok, will be featured in an elegant occasion to showcase the music of Johannes Brahms. Graduate of the Juilliard School of Music in New York and current coordinator of Keyboard Studies at San Jose State University School of Music and Dance, Ms. Mok has partnered with Friends of Music Education for Haiti to help raise funds for its current projects -- acquiring musical instruments for The New Victorian School's music department in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and continuing its construction of a much-needed rehearsal space for 150 students. Executive Director, Romel Joseph, almost perished in the earthquake that devastated Haiti and demolished this school with him inside it, a story published nationally and internationally. Join us for an intimate affair that will benefit a great cause, which includes a meet and greet reception where refreshments will be served.
