Great Opera Moments

Performing at Broward Center for the Performing Arts - Amaturo Theater (Sep 22 - Sep 22)

Synopsis

After successful performances in New York City, Miami, Aventura, and Latin America, the Great Opera Moments series comes to the Broward Performing Arts Center in an original production that offers the audience a varied view of grand opera with authentic components of operatic performance: live singing and music, acting, costumes, lighting and scenery integrated in an aesthetic concept inspired in the classical tradition and incorporating elements from other performing, media, and visual arts. In this integration of the arts, we are privileged to feature the special participation of guest artists from the Arts Ballet Theater of Florida, in an original choreography from prestigious choreographer and dancer Vladimir Issaev, Artistic Director of the Arts Ballet Theater of Florida.

Anthological scenes from well-known operas comprise the program: Donizetti's masterpieces Don Pasquale, La Favorita and Lucia di Lammermoor, as well as Puccini's famous opera La Bohème. The final act from Lucia di Lammermoor, which includes the famous and tragic Mad Scene, concludes the program.

Artists include, in order of appearance, sopranos Giselle Elgarresta Ríos, Marinel Cruz and Michelle Kemp; mezzo-soprano Greisel Domínguez; tenors Kunya Rowley, Matthew Maness and Jesse James; baritones Carlos Jimeno and Fernando Gonzalez; and bass-baritones Henri Coizeau and Jorge Arcila, accompanied by Daniel Daroca.

Featuring both seasoned and emerging talents, this varied program is sure to please opera lovers and the general public.
