Duncan Theatre
Description
For its upcoming 25th season, the highly acclaimed Duncan Theatre, a 700-seat performing arts venue on the Lake Worth campus of Palm Beach State College, is offering an amazing array of professional guest artists.
"For our 25th Anniversary season, we will kick-off the main stage festivities with a concert by The Boston Brass (also celebrating 25 years) that will feature a new Fanfares! written by a local composer. During this Season of Reflection & Discovery, the Duncan seeks to celebrate its rich cultural history with the return of some of the most popular artists to ever grace our stage in all-new programs – Pilobolus, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Amernet String Quartet and the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats to name a few," said Mark Alexander, Theatre Director. "Additionally we will continue to forge new ground as South Florida’s most eclectic performing arts center by introducing our audiences to premiere performances by kamikaze cabaret artist Meow Meow, Hot Club of San Francisco’s Cinema Vivant program, critically acclaimed and 13-time Grammy® nominated jazz musician Earl Klugh, and the Puppini Sisters. We are proud to continue our popular, three concert Juke Box Music Series (The Hit Men on Feb 10th; American English on March 1st; and Rave On!: Music of Buddy Holly on March 28th) featuring the music of those fabulous Jersey Boys - The Four Seasons and the DOO-WOP era; the Beatles; and Buddy Holly respectively. Other exciting developments this season include the four productions selected for our Saturday Family Fun Series for children and families of all ages. The series will feature the latin-influenced musical, Theatreworks USA’s The Yellow Brick Road; an adaptation of the Broadway musical Seussical; the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats; and the premiere of the stage version of the popular children’s book, Skippyjon Jones. Additionally, we are particularly excited to announce that the interior of the Duncan Theatre and Stage West will be undergoing a renovation that includes new theater seating, new grand curtain and other cosmetic enhancements. From all perspectives this exciting anniversary season is about celebrating our past, our present and ultimately peering forward to our future.”
